Kris Ajer admits ‘nothing better than Celtic’s ‘wee offside’ winner against Rangers in 2019 final

Kristoffer Ajer, former Celtic defender, speaks fondly of his time at the club in a podcast with Celtic ahead of the Viaplay Cup final against Rangers.

Ajer especially fondly recalls Celtic’s last League Cup final derby triumph against Rangers in December 2019, which they won 1-0 despite being outplayed by their opponents.

Ajer praised Fraser Forster’s incredible goalkeeping display in the final, including saving a penalty from Alfredo Morelos.

Ajer also enjoyed Celtic’s winning goal, which he admits may have been offside.

Ajer thinks Forster’s performance was one of the best he has ever seen and that he was calm even when Rangers were awarded a penalty.

Ajer was a key member of Celtic’s quadruple treble-winning squad, including scoring the decisive penalty in the shoot-out Scottish Cup success over Hearts.

Ajer thinks the absence of supporters impacted on how he feels about his penalty conversion in the Scottish Cup final.

Ajer thinks the Scottish Cup wins against Hearts in May 2019 and against Motherwell in May 2018 were his standout cup finals.

Ajer still watches every Celtic game he can now and will be tuning in to the Viaplay Cup final against Rangers.
